Need some insight about this pastel

Hey guys, I'm looking to expand my collection as I'm working my way to breeding. I personally prefer reduced pattern with as few dots as possible, the brighter the better. Recently I came across this pastel female, weighs about 150g, compared to other pastels here in china, I consider it to be fairly well, but the pattern in the front half is a little bit busy for me, and I'm not sure about how will it brown out as she ages since I've only kept normal BPs for about 5 month. The seller offers me a couple of photos ,I'd like to share with you and hear what you guys have to say about this, Any opinions is appreciated. Thanks a million.

I think she's awfully brown already for being so small: I would pass.

Considering where you live, you don't have the option of hundreds of snakes to choose from like we in the states do. She isn't terrible. Yes she is brown for her age and size, but I think you could work with her.

I know it will be more difficult for you to find the top quality stock we take for granted here, how long have you been searching? If you have already been looking for a while, she may be your best bet for now.

Re: Need some insight about this pastel

I would say if you really are in mainland china.... send me a PM and we can discuss options on how to break the great firewall using cryptography and T O R, so that you can more or less access wikipedia and youtube and so on. We can discuss this using private messages here, i can give you slow but safe uncensored access to the global internet. Or do you already have free internet access across the firewall? If not, we will get it done.

And i would say, for mainland china its a pastel alright. It exhibits the morph. To the others: Choices may be limited here.

If you have more pastels to choose from then you will find better ones. How good is your access to ball pythons over there, are there many small breeders in China and some big ones? Tell us something, i see this as a first contact to a chinese breeder. Anyway, its a pastel, and by breeding it to a very nice normal you can make better pastels starting with this pastel.

Im sorry if i sounded condescending anywhere here, its just, when i hear China i need to check some other things out, political things, freedom things. You usually dont meet people from China online, definitively not on Facebook or Youtube or Twitter or via google, since these are banned, i guess the censors missed this reptile forum so far. Too bad this forum doesnt feature cryptography.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I've been on the constant lookout for good examples of paster/spider/enchi/lesser for fairy long time, let's say 3-4 months, and I've not seen many around, not to mention good ones. one reason being that raising, keeping, transporting BP or any other python is illegal in mainland china, so there're not many big breeders around and I could safely say basically 90% of the stock available in the market are smuggled by someone with connections. With baby season is just around the corner, I'm not sure if I should wait some more time and see what's coming up next or just give it a go. I'm more of a quality over quantity guy,so maybe I'd hold back a while. Thanks again for your input.

Re: Need some insight about this pastel

Thank you for the kind offer ,I really appreciate it. Since I've already gained free access to all the banned sites so "No,thank you"
As for the breeding market in Mainland China, the government's guiding line is simple and rude: basically all python-related practice is illegal unless you could successfully obtain a license which is next to impossible unless you're running a zoo, by the way, 95% of which are state-owned. That being said, by keeping a single BP, I'm breaking the law every day but there're thousands of people like me and if you play it quite, normally there won't be a problem, however, if someone have a bad day and decides to turn you in, according to the law, you could face a maximum of 5 years in prison. Such kind of thing is rare, but it did happen before, just a couple of days ago ,a big player(not so in your eyes ) keeping 20+ retics was arrested, he is only 21 and facing at least 2 years jail time. I feel sad for him, but there's nothing I could do about it. If there's anything you'd like to know ,feel free to contact me.
