My point is, I know the new one holds humidity and temps better than the first regardless of what stat is on it. The VE200 performs great for me.

When I got into keeping, Helix was the big bad daddy to have so I went out and bought them.
Then I got in the VE line when they came out and they perform perfect for my needs.

    Best thermostat for bator?

    Was designed specifically for incubators

Bacically this thing has everything you could possibly want in an incubator thermostat and nothing that you wouldn't want (to keep costs down). The competition (VE thermostats/helix thermostats) are using outdated technology at a premium price. They don't have the safety features that the herpstat intro + does yet cost just as much if not more. The other thermostats on the market (ranco/Johnson's/hydro farm) aren't accurate enough to trust as a thermostat for an incubator.
I have a custom built PVC incubator with a herpstat intro. It's working absolutely wonderfully!

    Nice 'bator!

I'll have to look into VE's...I've never even heard of them. It was always Helix and Herpstat when I first got started...I went with Herpstats.

    Best thermostat for bator?

Mine was built by Greg West.
    http://www.cornelsworld.com

He's one of the best cage/rack/incubator builders in Canada and he's only 4 hours away!

This is my first year, and I'm retarded when it comes to building things so I didn't want to make my own incubator. This one cost a pretty penny but it's working perfectly, and is super light and easy to move.

I use a herpstat intro for my jerry rigged Coleman cooler incubator. It works great. The temp you're seeing is low because it was just powering up when I took the pics.

You may also want to get a backup thermostat (I've always used one on my incubators - I would not go without). Any decent on/off thermostat will work for that, but the Hydrofarm is probably the most economical. Here's the link (posted to my blog so I don't have to look it up every time - yes I am lazy).
