    Odd Behaviour - please help

    http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...-Thawed-Enough

    Hey guys,
I have noticed something different I have never seen my bp do and want to know whether you guys think (following what happened ie. the link above) if I should be concerned or if other bp's do that. A day after the feeding so was alive and to my knowledge well. I noticed when she was out of her hide that she moved funny. rather then slithering she lifted a section of her body up slightly and move it back. She did this twice in two sections in order to "shuffle" backward rather then "slither." It is now thursday so i removed everything from her tank just to see how she moved. She sat there for awhile and then did the same shuffling motion backwards. then she did start to slither but not much and it seemed very off almost like she was dragging (hard to explain/ definitely different looking to me). I'm worried because it has been two days now. I just wanted to get everyones opinion I do have a vet appointment made but i thought i would ask

checked on her again and she didnt move. she was breathing but clearly did not want to move. Her neck moved but she went around her body sticking he nose under it and then not moving. when she touched on of her sides it began twitching and didnt stop until she moved her head

Let her hide. Take her to the vet, for your sake as well as hers. I don't really understand the movements you're describing but is sounds to me like you took away her security to monitor movement when she needs to hide and digest her food. Ball pythons are slow. Have days worth of patience with your snake, it has a tiny tiny brain.

Okay, I read through all the previous posts on thawing. I'm sure by now you've seen the hundreds of posts on how to thaw and how to check temperature. You've also read about how not to handle the snake after eating (due to that whole regurgitation possibility thing). There is a lot of good information on this forum and the best advice I have is to read ALL of it, and notice the trends, especially those from the veterans. And then remember that each snake (and animal for that matter) will differ slightly.

One thing that wasn't addressed (and you probably know about, but it doesn't hurt to mention) is make sure that your snake has access to belly heat. Not everyone needs it apparently, but it's best to make sure it's available should she need/want it.

On a medical note, my medical brain gets nervous with potential neurological symptoms. I am in no way confident in herp medicine, but as a CVT, I think you made the absolute right decision to take her to the vet. Like everyone else said, it's probably nothing, but I know I'd rather be out the money than be heartbroken with a lost pet. I hope it's nothing but bizarre BP behavior. Because they neeeeever do that, right? (Note the scarcasm).

    Good luck!

defiantly should be worried. if it isnt moving/resisting to move, you should defiantly take it to the vet. Good luck.

I think it's definitely time to follow your gut on this one, Megz. When is her vet appointment? I'll be thinking of both you and your girl.

Hope she is ok! Sounds like really odd behavior, but I feel itd be too soon to associate the behavior with a meal that may not have been completely thawed after only 2 days. Hope the vet visit went well.

Re: Odd Behaviour - please help

Hey guys sorry for the delay, thanks so much for your concerns I took her to the vet and she checked her out. she said she may have down that because she was having a hard time digesting and in her own way was adjusting as to not move the mouse. I am still monitoring her, tonight she will eat so I'm going to take a video in case anything strange happens and send it to the vet to analyze. So far so good though, Roxy is slithering again and being just as adorable as always. Thanks again for the advice, support, and concern
