Re: Advice needed
Go to Kingsnake.com and Fauna Classifieds and see what other people are selling - it's a GREAT way to see what your pastel will look like with other mophs. You can also go to worldofballpythons.com and play with their genetic wizard to see what you'll get with varrious crosses.
If I were going for only one other gene, I'd go with the Yellow Belly for one female. They are relatively inexpensive and the super makes a white snake and the pastel-yellow belly and super-pastel-yellow belly makes a nice yellow with normal patterns. Both these genes tend to make all your morphs more yellow and clean.
I do love the bumblebee, but pick your spider carefully. They can have a head wobble or right/left-handedness when they crawl. You don't want to have that in your breeding line. When I purchased my spider, I was told it didn't have a head wobble. It didn't, but when it crawled, it always turned to the left and up. I love the little guy, but I won't breed with him now.
I think it's the Desert female that won't produce viable eggs (someone will correct me if I'm wrong), yet I've seen them for sale for hundreds of dollars to be sold as 'pets'.
Best advice - do your homework before you buy.
See you at Timmonium!

Look for a two-gene morph if $$$ isn't a problem. I have a spinner female (pinstripe x spider), no wobble or other issues, that I'm going to cross with my pastel male when she's old enough. You should be able to check the spiders at the show for problems since you'll see them personally.
Yellow belly or lesser is also nice for going light.
Could also try a piebald if you're looking for future generations, going for a pastel piebald if you breed a het pied pastel male back to mama.

This is what I've read also. It stinks b/c I really like the desert pattern and would love to play with it.
