I tried but didn't get anything. I'm not great at popping large adults so I wasn't suspicious that I couldn't pop 'him' correctly. I'm thinking she must have sexed ambiguously or she was mislabeled? I really don't know. I did think it was funny I couldn't get any sperm plugs out of 'him', but I figured it was highly unlikely that a female would be miss-sexed as a male.

Hmmn, you should try probing her at some point? You might get some insight on what could have been with the mix up since that popping, especially with the older snakes, isn't always particularly accurate. <:

I would bet she probes long. I have never probed or had anyone teach me how to probe so I'm not entirely comfortable trying it. I might ask around and see if any of the local breeders probe.

Lol no kidding!
That mojo has been glowing for two months! She started glowing like crazy the beginning of this month so I've been axiously watching for her to ovulate. This was from early this month

Two months ago, she was the same color as him

I was recently shown how to probe, and was delighted it is not difficult to do.
I insist on ball tip probes, it is my clear understanding these minimize chances of injury.
With someone experienced to show you, you suddenly wonder why you never learned it before. I guess what I am rambling on about is, it is well worth it to locate someone to teach you, and a good set of probes is not expensive. I had the misfortune of selling the largest male normal I had ever laid eyes on to someone as a female. I couldn't pop the beast, and with his size I never doubted it was a female when I rescued it. Needless to say the buyer was not happy, but I was able to correct the problem to their satisfaction, and he was later adopted by a young lady who was thrilled to get a big ball python to bond with instead of having to settle for a baby. From what she has told me, he settled in quite well and she's delighted with him. So what could have been a disaster on several counts actually turned out very well.
However, that was the kick in the pants I needed to stop putting off learning to probe, I don't want to have to deal with a situation like that again. I don't know what I would have done if the buyer had been from out of state.
