That rat does appear to be too large for a BCI of that size - however I suspect it may be folded over in the snake's coils and is not as large as it appears.

As I thought, lol.
I responded to Nick for any newbie's benefit if they should read this thread. Boas really shouldn't have prey that leaves anything more than a very small lump in their belly. They have slower metabolisms than BPs and do better on smaller meals. Thanks for clarifying!

Yea it looks larger than it is, probably because I was moving the rat around trying to get something in its mouth, it wasnt nearly as large as it looks in the pic, it is almost folded in half or something and squished out looking lol
No problem this left almost no lump in him.

At 5ft, I'm sure he doesn't. If it's not leaving a lump in his belly, then it's fine.
My male Argentine is about 5 1/2 ft and weighs in at about 2200gm. He is eating medium rats.

That happens to mine all the time! Seems like they want to squish it in half to get it nice a soft before swallowing.....
BTW, I love your rough scaled sand boa!! I've been wanting one, but at our area's expo I can only find Kenyan's and I'd rather have a rough scaled. Mind if I ask where you got him??
