Petco now making customers sign waivers for purchasing feeders?

Speaking of petco, damn Walmart of pet stores. Another one of my local pet shops just ran out of business for being there for as long as I can remember

I can see it now written on the transport box...

    WARNING...Use extreme caution...contents may bite!!

Hell if McDonalds had to put "contents hot" on their coffee cups this may be the future when buying rodents!

The ones in San Diego ask if they will be pets or feeders. They say they don't sell feeders so I assume that they won't sell to you if you say it's a feeder.

the petsmart here doesnt sell "feeders," only pets. but the petco does. these were labeled as feeder mice, and the waiver wasnt for saying we'd take good care of them, as they are sold strictly as food. this was just a waiver saying if one of the feeder mice bit us, we wouldnt sue them.

That's when I tell them, pick me out the most tasty looking pet you have.

Funny they will sell you the snake, just not the food for it.

Re: Petco now making customers sign waivers for purchasing feeders?

Petco near me in CT has been making me do this off/on for the past 3 months. The form they give me has to do with proper/humane treatment of the animal, though (has nothing to do with liability of getting bitten or starting an infestation, as far as I know).
I've complained to them multiple times, and the Petco employees I've spoken with thinks it's as dumb as I do.
Whatever, though - mice there are $3.71/each, so I try to avoid them whenever I can and support the local non-chain reptile shop.

I worked for petco to five years. We tried to promote feeding frozen but that was not always the case. When I had to feed the snakes I had to use live sometimes for the well being of the snake so it would eat and not starve like most do in the stores.

I picked up a mouse from the Petco on Rt 610 a few weeks ago and they had me sign the "it's going to a good home" form. They usually don't though. I think it was a new employee...most of the other employees know I'm not there for "pet mice".

This is why I love the private owned store I go to.

I walk to the back of the store. Go through the employees only door (even tho I am not) and I walk in there and they just smile and ask how many I need LOL

    THATS how its done!
