I've had a couple of people ask me for updates on the rescue Burmese python we took in (who I have been calling Myanmar). His over all body condition looks much better now that he isn't dehydrated but his infection doesn't seem to be improving much. The right side of his head has started to swell but the eye looks great. His left eye is still pretty badly infected. I have made an appointment with Dr. Wenninger at Spartan Animal Hospital for Saturday to have him re-evaluated. He is still not eating but he is much stronger than when he first came into our care. I will try to get pictures of his swollen head tonight. This is an uphill battle and is bound to have some set backs but I am still hopeful he will recover.
Thank you,
Rebecca

Update on the rescue Burmese python:
I took Myanmar back to see Dr. Wenninger at Spartan Animal Hospital today. Dr. Wenninger drew puss samples from 4 different spots on his head including his left eye. The left eye was flushed out and a culture of the different puss samples was also sent out. He has an abscess in his mouth which will require surgery to remove but that won't be done until a later day. We should know by the end of the week if we need to change the antibiotics he is on. In addition to the puss being drained he was also tube feed a little over half his recommended dose of Carnivore Care to get a little something into him.
I would like to give a huge thank you to both Dr. Wenninger and Spartan Animal Hospital for their help.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. I do have an update and more pictures.
My vet switched him over to Penicillin and Baytril for antibiotics after doing a culture about a month ago. Today he went in for an operation to remove the abscess in his mouth. The operation went well and he is home now recovering. In about a week I am going to offer him food. His mouth should be healed in a few days but I want to give him at least a week. The Baytril is unfortunately leaving marks on his body but his eye is doing better. I didn't talk to the vet today but I think the last big step will be to get him to eat on his own. I am hoping now that his mouth is better he will want to eat.
