Hey everyone, I was wondering If i could get some one to help explain to me what the relationship between the toffee and albino gene is? Any input is helpful Thanks! (Sorry I know I am very general but just looking to learn).

Het. Toffee x Albino will give you Toffinos and 100% Het Albinos.

Hets are in the $1500 range and I've only seen 1 visual Toffee recently and it was $6500 for a female.

about the genetics: toffino is a 100% het albino 100% het toffee. Its not, strictly speaking, a toffee albino, because it is not homozygous anything.

Yes, if you get a het toffee, breeding it to a nice, regular albino is the absolutely best thing you can do. All offspring will be 100% het albino, and all of the ones that also hit the toffee-gene will come out as visible toffinos. So you get all you could possibly get out of it, and for the normal-looking ones you will be sure that they are just regular oldschool 100% het albino.

more examples:
- breeding toffee to albino will produce a clutch of 100% visible toffinos.
- breeding toffino to albino will produce 50% toffino, 50% albino
- breeding toffino to toffino will produce 50% toffino, 25% toffee, 25% albino
- toffino to het toffee is less optimal, you get 25% toffee 25% toffino and 50% het something, and you need to breed each one of these "het something" to see if its het albino or het toffee.

basically you can make the most, by far, out of the (still quite expensive) toffee gene if you already have some albino breeding going on. Then this gene will just fit in peeeeeerfectly. producing hets can be easily avoided, especially producing hets that make you wonder if its just a het albino or maybe a het toffee.

The same also appears to be true for candy. That gives an upper theoretical limit of 6 variations: toffee, candy, albino, candino, toffino, and candy/toffee. 5 of these already exist and are for sale, candy/toffee appears to be missing, i guess soon that whole system will be complete. And will then go on to replace albino breeding as we know it.

By breeding toffino to albino, besides the toffinos and the albinos that will come out, wont there be normal looking ones in the clutch? and wont those normal looking ones be 100%het albino and 50%pos het toffee? just wondering

No the normal looking ones would have to be 100% het toffee or 100% het albino.

The Toffino has no normal genes at that location to pass on.

And if the albino passed on a mutated gene the offspring that got it would have to be visuals because of the above.

just realized the normals wont have toffee gene in them otherwise they would be toffinos, so the normal looking ones will be 100% het albinos. right?
