    what would make them reobsorb the follicols?

    If they fail to ovulate. Female can lay underutilized eggs. No ovulation causes eggs to be resorbed.

    in the wild food isn't always easy for a ball python to obtain. when a female gets clues from the change in the seasons (temps, light) that it's breeding season. she will start follicle growth. if she doesn't mate with a male, instead of using all that energy to have infertile eggs, she will absorb her follicles and won't use all her stored fat for no reason.

    Stress can play a role in the re-absorption as well like weighing her every 3 days
