Amonia does not kill crypto? Iv soaked the tubs 4L of amonia in a half full bath tup for 45 minutes, replaced the tubs as this is the only thing I have for my snakes, Will look for new ones tommorow! also washed the rack with it.

Ammonia DOES kill crypto, about one of the only things. Also I wonder if a steamer would work, like a steam-shark? I know a cycle through the dishwasher should kill crypto, but I know that racks and CB70 tubs will NOT fit in a dishwasher...lol.

    Here's a write-up I found on cornsnakes.com:

Apparently a steam-shark thingie could work, sounds like you'd have to expose the surfaces to the steam shark for quite awhile though.

The more I read the worse it looks there is not 100% effective disinfectant. Peroxides have been effective (48% !!!! not the 6% from the drug stores) Silver nitrate and formeldahydes. I did not find mention of ammonia but my reading but there is a lot to dig through. To be honest here I would still replace the tubs this is where the greatest vector would likely be. The body? No idea what will be certain. I may give thought to not using it at all.

Hand steamers are great cleaning items but the home ones just don't get hot enough to do much I own a shark and 160º is about its max the other steamer I have is much hotter 220º but you would still need to hold a surface at this for 10-20 min. Too slow and impractical. They do however do a great job of penetrating cracks and blasting junk out.

It said 60c for 5-9 minutes, I can only imagine that 220c takes less time

No it does not nor does most others. This is the biggest reason why I am un certain about ammonia working as well. F10 is a Quaternary ammonium compound with a twist or two it has ammonia at its root.
Squamish do you have any lab results on ammonia being effective?

Sadly the little bit of reading I have done keeps pointing to aldehydes (formaldehyde bases) something like Cidex plus they are serious chemicals (they actually can be a chemical sterilant) and the safety informations would need to be carefully followed.

    Some information sources...

great resource but needs to be double checked as it is not from a vetted source.

    university pub.

Sadly protozoacidal chemicals are very few and the ones that are listed as such are very toxic.
