Even a nervous baby can be calmed. You just need to know how to properly handle a nervous snake. One of my CA Nics is very nervous and wants to strike at everything. I hook her out but then quickly gather her close to my body and cover her head and face with my hand. This calms her down fast. I keep her head close to me to avoid her getting spooked by any movement. Cupping and covering the head, bringing it in close to you, works wonders for boas and pythons. Then just handle regularly and any nervous snake will become calm as can be in no time.
Get just a basic BCI or a Hog male as a baby. Raise it up. They grow so slow that by the time they are bigger you won't even notice. My Moya here is just a big baby. She's the sweetest snake ever. Active, but I trust her completely. She's not done growing either. She's only 4 1/2 years old slow grown. 6 1/2 ft. She may hit 8ft at some point down the road since she's a BCC female.
