I don't know that I would trust that method, to be honest. I suppose it could work - I've heard of stranger things. But I'm not a fan of Hartz products - I've had a lot of animals have reactions to their products and in my experience their products are not as effective when compared to others. So, again, I don't think I'd trust this method - I'd be worried my snake would react to the shampoo mostly.
But HERE is a tried and true product that is much cheaper then PAM and is just as effective and very very safe for the animal. http://www.reptilebasics.com/mite-killers
I LOVE this product!! It is immediately effective and safe. I purchased a nice little sunglow boa at the Tinley expo in Oct. After getting her back to the hotel room, the next morning I found mites! I freaked out. Went straight back to the show and ended up, by happenstance and good fortune, talking to Rich at Reptile Basics. He told me about this Reptile Spray and I bought a bottle. I lightly sprayed down my baby boa in the hotel room sink and WATCHED the mites die and fall off of her. You can spray this directly on the snake, even on its head. I patted her dry, wiped down her tub with a little more of the Spray, and did not come home with one single mite! What a dream product! My baby was instantly cured and I didn't have any little buggers hitching a ride home. Thank you Rich!!!
So, since there are so many warnings associated with PAM, I prefer Reptile Basics' Reptile Spray. Safer, easier, faster, and every bit as effective.![]()
