Re: Un-bred female only seeking cool side?

the reason I asked is if the snake you are trying to get to size was recessive. I would say wait, keep that breeding pure. it's all up to you. The pastel enchi would be nice. you could wait, she's going to build first before she reabsorbs. depending where she's at in her cycle should give you some time. careful placing him in too soon. some males will go off feed durning breeding. you need to find someone close that can help you determine her follicle size. that info would help you a lot. if you were closer, I have an ultrasound which would pinpoint where she's at. good luck don

So I guess my question now is how much time do I have until she'll reabsorb? I know you cant say exactly... But from when they start developing follicles how long till they will reabsorb if not bred? I popped the Pastel Enchi today and no sperm plugs yet.. As I figured. The plan was to breed the Pastel Enchi w her ASAP...A few more months I figured... But if shes going to reabsorb and its going to be a year before shell be ready again anyways I may as well breed her with the Lesser this year.

As far as feeling for follicles... I dont know why I can't figure it out! This is my 3rd year breeding ball pythons and have just never been able to get it... I try feeling for them every year with females and feel nothing... Then get eggs from them... Pretty lame

Re: Un-bred female only seeking cool side?

some females go thru their cycle fast and some take forever. my female fire last year had 35 mm follicles in june and didn't have her clutch until mid january. you can always start with the lesser and when the enchi pastel is ready use him at the end. you would at least have a chance for the enchi pastel. good luck don

I pop young males all the time and I have never seen one have plugs before 2 1/2 months old and even then imo it would be dumb to pair them.
I pair 400+ gram males but 6 week old males, jeezus have some patience

If she slugs out you are looking at a year or so before she would lay again...

I haven't had enough girls absorb follicles to say for sure the time frame needed for the female to recoup...I have asked a few people over the years, but never got any good answers to this questions...

    Is that even possible????
I don;t think a male can breed that young.

My apologies, I actually called the breeder and the snake wasn't that young. When I had originally posted I texted a mutual friend of ours and he is the one who assured me the snake was 6 weeks old. It was actually 12 weeks, and 289g. Sorry for the misinformation.

It's all good, I could see 3 months old, I've never tried that young but have heard of a few people getting clutches from that young of a male, just not as young as you had first quoted
I lost a male to breeding a few years ago, you have to watch those little guys very closely, it doesn't take long for them to lose enough weight to be unhealthy.
