I agree with jerry. there's a difference between a big male and a fat male. I have some pretty big males and they are strong breeders.

breeding season is long. keep pairing them. but the time that they are separated is as important as the time that they are paired. in other words, they need the time apart or he will lose interest. one reason why you don't place a male with a female the whole season without removing him.

I have an ultrasound. I've placed a male with a female recently, her follicles were no bigger than 7mm (not close to being ready) and she tail wagged and scented the tub up. he was locking with other females but not her. reason I place him with her is to help start her follicle growth and to see what would happen.
good luck and keep us posted, don

Why is everyone assuming its the males fault? As many of us men know, sometimes girls just don't wana. She could be the root cause of the problem. Locks can happen anytime and they will when both parents say the time is right. Come on haven't you had this talk with your parents? Lol.

I have no real reason to believe this has anything to do with your problem but I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it:

You got him over 2000 grams and have 'slimmed him down' to 1650? Maybe losing 400+ grams is putting his body in a position to feel unfit for the energy tax of breeding? 1 small rat a week doesn't seem like starving him, so don't think that's what I'm accusing you of or anything. I just wonder if the weight loss itself is affecting him.

I have since based on the info given to me started feeding him once a week vs every other. He ate last week and this week. I hated not feeding him w all the other snakes. I felt terrible, guess i got some bad info.

Side note been raining here for last 2 days paired them up no lock yet but it looks like hes got her in position and is doin his foreplay.... Atleast i hope only took a quick peak
