How to wire Computer fan help
Can anyone give me some advice to a link or web page to explain the best way to hook up your CPU fan or what is it I need to wire the fan to control its fan blade speed?
Thanks Kindly,
Lance

a cpu fan is a low voltage fan. I wired mine to a cell phone charger and then plugged that into a lamp dimmer to slow it down.

I have used a 110v fan that is the same as a CPU fan it means less wiring as it needs no adapter.
Rob you placed the rheostat between the fan and adapter?

Interesting I tried something like that and it was not able to regulate the fan with the adaptor so I ordered the 110v fan. must be a different type of adapter? I wish I know more about the odds and ends like that.

It was just an old cell phone charger from one of my Nextels. I know if the fan wouldnt start till you turned it up al the way but after it was running I could regulate it back.
Its the fans I was running in the little black incubator from my first couple clutches.
Now the "Nick-O-Bator" has two 110v fans with a Zoomed rheostat in it.

Rob that was my problem! I was using a herpstat in cooling mode with it the fan was just on full or off. I never had that problem with the ac fan. That sounds like the missing bit. Thanks Rob that has been bugging me for a while. I hate not knowing

I buy these:

With this cord:

then you don't have to worry about wiring, just plugging in the cord to the fan and the fan into the wall.
