I voted...but Oklahoma is always a Republican state so it didn't need my help lol. The sad thing is that SOOOOOOO many people voted with absolutely NO idea what the person they voted for is all about...not opening a can of worms.

They are 99.99% sure Obama will be re-elected. The Empire state building is glowing blue for his win.

Our local news is saying Obama won.

    /sarcasm on
    Yayyy
    /sarcasm off

    Edit: sorry for that, disappointed.

Congratulations to the POTUS, he might not have been my choice, but he's the man for the next 4yrs and I will respect him for that.

    I just cleared it out!

Yeah. Hopefully the next four years can be spent trying to negotiate rather than being on the offensive or the defensive.

This election will be very close. Close enough in fact that a "no vote", may essentially be a vote in the incumbent's favor. In the words of Geddy Lee "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."

You state the incumbent has proven himself an ineffective leader. Reminding you that he did this with the benefit of a same party, controlled congress to start and should have been doing as much in his power as possible to positon himself favorably for reelection. How do you see his effectiveness going forward as a lame duck? Do you consider not voting to change the situation, the same as giving your permission for the President to continue to be ineffective?

I don't seeing it being the "Lesser of two evils" unless both are known or unknown entities. That is not the case in this election. One is a known entity and one is not. At least as it pertains to the presidency. We can presume to know what the new candidate will do, but won't really know and can't, unless he is given the chance to do so. And yes, that may be regrettable four years from now. However, we know exactly what the incumbent has and has not done, as it is a matter of record and now and forever a part of our history. In my opinion, that is regrettable today. And forgive my presumptiousness, but I interpret your words to sound like it may be yours too. Can you really expect an incumbent will do better second term, when there is even less incentive for him to do so?

Again, I do not wish to impose my choice for President on anyone in this forum. Vote your party, your will, your heart, whatever. I am simply asking if you believe that not voting is really the best choice?
You are absolutely right in all of this. I am from KS and that is where I am registered to vote, and if you look at the numbers it was approximately 60% Mitt, 40% Obama, which in reality is the largest reason for my not voting in the federal portion of the election. The main reason that I would never have voted for Mitt is because of how he can't seem to stand his ground on any important position. He went from mainly middle of the aisle to complete right and to me it was apparent that it was done to win votes. Ultimately, Mr. Obama doesn't have as much control over what everyone blames him for, and he is being blamed for things that came about when the republican controlled the senate and the house under George W.

To those that are disappointed that someone in the military didn't vote, I would like to offer an explanation and then ask why you feel that way. Even if I chose not to vote, that privelege, along with many of the priveleges in this country (that most people feel are rights but in my opinion are mistaken, beacuse even just being an American is a privelege), are things that I have made a conscious choice to defend, with my life if necessary. I would hope that given this choice that I have made that people could see that I view these things as worth defending, whether or not I chose to partake in them. Another reason that I didn't vote is that I am not livinig where I coudl vote and to register to vote in a place where I will only be temporarily doesn't really interest me. Why does being stationed in Colorado Springs for 3 years give me the right to chose how the government will make choices that could and likely will have impact long after I leave? I leave that to the citizens of Colorado Springs. I also am not home to know what is going on with local governments enough to make an informed decision. I hope that helps clear that up a bit.

    Just noticed this thread.
I'm a university student so I had my ballot mailed to me a few weeks ago. I couldn't go back home to vote at my usual place.
