Don't know about you, but apparently he didn't like my answer either, and gave me negative rep. Way to go Mr. Brute, good use of that button.

Enjoying animal torture at a younger age is a trait many serial killers share.

I dont videotape any of my feedings either. I dont see a point to it. I only have one live feeder. I watch just long enough to make sure she got a good strike (bc im over protective lol) and then close the tub. I dont have any interest in watching rats die lol.

Those pictures i took were for specific reasons mostly. Otherwise i dont document it.

    Re: Death is KNOCKING!-Feeding Time!

I figured the OP had more of a morbid fascination in the death sequence as opposed to enjoying animal torture. I can say as a kid I was more intensely interested and excited by the process and while I've always felt bad for the prey I also recognize my responsibility to feed the animals I keep. I don't think feeding live is a form of torture either..

The guy gave you negative rep??? What the hell. Sounds rather trollish to me.

Because of the conversation going on, I feel I need to preface this post...

I'm not particularly intrigued by the death of an animal. I do however, enjoy the site of the strike and coil, as well as the process the snake goes through to consume his prey. I've started to make the feeding videos for that reason. It also gives me something to do while monitoring the live feeding to make sure nothing goes wrong.

This is the second recorded live feeding I've made. Nim's 4th feeding while in my care, so far. And the best video yet. I haven't seen/heard of other snakes/owners feeding by hand. He's usually hungry enough that the mouse doesn't leave my hand before he strikes it(I assume he can also sense that its in/near the cage).

The exciting part is in the first 00:12 seconds of the video, if you watch anything after that you'll witness the death struggle and consumption.

    Here is the video.

This guy's just rude. If you want to watch videos from people you "chat" with, you should start being more polite so you'll have people to chat with, and besides what're you gonna discuss "Oh man, did you see how it's eyes bulged out and how the snakes mouth was open so wide!"? No, that's just sick. It would be really shameful if a 13 year old (me) is a lot more polite and respectful of others than (using an example here) 20-40 year old person. Sorry for the rant, but Malcolm has been here for a while and is always really helpful and doesn't deserve that kind of response, he was only trying to help.

    Here is the video.
Most of us don't feed by hand because a) it's not necessary (and I've fed over 15K live feedings) and b) when your snake gets bigger, the odds of going for the larger heat signature (your hand) is much higher, and we're simply not interested in our hands being mistaken for the prey item.

You don't see it often, because those who have done it in the past quickly learn that it's a foolish way to feed.

Agreed. Telling a veteran to "scram" is just rude.

His post was on point - you don't truly "know" anyone here - you haven't been here long enough. Suggesting to search Youtube was a reasonable response. Neg repping other members to "return the favor" is also against the site TOS and can result in your ability to give reputation to be taken away as it falls under Rep Abuse and/or Retaliation Games

It is a great way to make friends though!
