Absolutely ridiculous.
We pop everything and never shove anything inside a snake.

There is no single right way to sex a snake. Probing, in my opinion, is more accurate.
I suck at popping.

I don't see how probing is more accurate. Males are a no brainer, if they got junk, they are male, end of story. Females may be harder to spot at first, but after a little practice, you know what looks like a female. Bigger snakes are harder to pop, but it can still be done. If i can learn, anyone can learn.

Before this gets out of hand I'm going to respond. To begin with corey approached about swapping his pastel male for one of my normal females I had two and sent numerous pictures and texts with a new cell phone. and there was much confusion and finally we were able to come to an agreement and made the trade. My female was sent in full confidence that I was sending a female who is 2182 grams and never produced the first sperm plug. If you want to put our business out here for the public to see that's your choice I told you I was at work and couldn't talk but would work something out when I got home. Well here it is I sent you a female if you are unhappy with the trade well by all means I will trade you back but I started in this hobby to have fun not to make money or enemies just for something fun to do with my boys. So you have heard on hear that there are other ways to determine sex if you don't want to pursue them that's your choice but I won't invest any more money in this venture. If you would like to ship my female back with return labeling I will gladly return your snake but I don't appreciate you coming on here and implying I was doing something underhanded on purpose. This sounds like a case of swappers remorse to me. I wasn't assuming she was a female she was probed and verified female.

Not sure who those others are, but I can give you a little different perspective. My first year, I just put the males in with the females and did get a few locks but not very many and no clutches of eggs. The second year, I popped every male before being introduced to the female and got tons more locks and several clutches. It is my observation with my collection, popping is not harmful but actually beneficial in pairing for breeding. I don't know if it stimulates the males or just gives me a little reassurance that it really is a male I'm introducing. Or, those sperm plugs that pop out cause the male to want to replace them. But, I find much better lock rates when I pop before introduction. This is only my observation and not scientific or a valid sampling, but popping is perfectly fine with my snakes.
And as for the crocks, I would much prefer flip flops (or five fingers) for boating and on the water. I always get a giggle out of going to medical facilities and seeing the nurses in crocks. Those have got to be the ugliest shoes on the planet. I took a bath on their stock when it crashed - so I'm not very fond of them. It is nothing personal.

I don't think it got out of hand. If you read, many people said contact you and see how you want to resolve it. Also, people here also suggested other ways to sex the snake and make sure that both sides probed the same. All we have to go by is the video and it does appear that the probe on that side showed it looked like a male. If it were me, I'd pop it and see if I could get one of the hemipenes to pop out. Trades can be a tricky thing and this could be a good lesson to others to make sure that there is a written or agreed upon mechanism to undo the deal if one of the parties is not happy.
The results may have not been the best, but that is how folks learn. Good luck to both of you. Hope it gets resolved off line and amicabaly.

I truly apologize if I started the crocks issue. I was joking and did not mean for anyone to take it seriously. Before this thing blows up, do you know someone who can pop that snake for you? If you can get a hemipene to show, then it is definitely a male and the parties should try to make each other whole. Mistakes happen and yes, you will be out shipping but so will he. I think the best course is to find someone who can help you positively identify the sex of the animal, then try to work with him so that neither one of you are out too much. Again, I apologize for the crocks remark. Sometimes humor falls flat.

We worked it out I will chock it up to experience but I am very disappointed and still stick by my guns on the sex issue and will prove it out as soon as possible. The last thing I want to do is make enemies I'm a man of my word and my reputation means a lot to me. Oh and by the way I'm a flip flop guy. Lol. I still have a breeder size female pastel I'll just have to breed to a normal this go around and save a little while and buy one of those amazing male babies from Tim lane.

Re: Does anyone think this is a female? Probing video attached...
Miles and I have come to an agreement we are both happy with and will be swapping back by cross shipping on Monday. We will both be out a few bucks, but no hard feelings at all.
I could care less about the Crock's comments. I probably own 8 pair. I do have more than one pair of shoes- ONLY if you count my snake proof, knee high Rocky hunting boots as shoes. I like snakes, but I like to stay well clear of the diamondbacks down here. I ran into a few 6ft'ers last fall hunting deer that literally made my eyeballs out of focus when they rattled. Get's your adrenaline pumping and it's a great rush when you finally get up in your treestand
I do however laugh at the chicks at work who wear those "butt builder" high platform air sneakers.

Nothing wrong with humor It actually calmed me down. He's right though my mom and sister are nurses and a lot of the nurses wear them. But its fun to get a rise from guys about wearing them.
