The Midwest Herp Symposium is in Omaha, Nebraska this weekend. Brian Barczyk from BHB and SnakeBytes.TV is one of the speakers (as am I) and his topic is "Using technology to connect with herpers".

It ties into this on a deeper level. The marketing, the branding, the reach that you have by posting as a business (breeder) online or just as a hobbyist. The interwebs has become such a powerful connective tool that even the simple posting of an animal pic often leads to sales and commerce. Pretty amazing.

When we had animals for sale, any online post might lead to a sale, even a simple forum comment. Facebook is now a major tool in connecting to other herpers both socially and commercially, and it is dominated by pictures.

I wrote a few thoughts on this same (expanded) topic, just a "7 inch" piece, but tying into what is basically "sharing a pic online". If you are completely caught up on Dexter, Tosh.0 and Sons of Anarchy, give it a quick read if you like.
