It's not related to the woma morph, which appears to be a dominant gene, not a co-dominant gene. Womas will not produce a pearl, and there is a breeder who claims to have a homozygous woma which looks the same as heterozygous womas.
Think of it as being similar to the 'desert ghost'. It's called a ghost, but it's unrelated to orange/green/yellow ghost hypo lines, and it's also not a 'true ghost' (which is a combo morph).
Names can lead to a lot of confusion.
Additionally, when people say 'hidden gene', they're not always talking about the hidden gene woma. There are other genes out there might be referred to that way--for example, the 'Daddy gene' that turns lesser platinums into platinums.
Does that have anything to do with the "Platty Daddy" that Ralph Davis refers to alot?

Yes, the Platty Daddy is a Platinum, owned by Ralph Davis, and it's interesting that the first example of the Lesser gene to be imported was in a combo morph.. Platinums carry the daddy gene, and the lesser gene. Their offspring will EITHER be Lesser Platinum, or they will appear normal, and carry the hidden 'daddy gene'.
By breeding a daddy-gene-carrier to a lesser, you can get Platinums.

BTW, many people have never seen a Platinum, they're still pretty rare. Here's one at VPI:

Kevin claims his lessers are special and only his lessers can make soul suckers. He calls them hidden gene lessers. Despite overwhelming evidence of others producing soul sucker looking animals from normal line lessers. Personally i dont see the HG lesser thing.
