Re: Addiction has officially set in

ok you are all right. that would be tooo much to handle especially with me only having bp's for a year. Thank you for your quick input and firm answers.
and i really dont want to come off as dumb, a retard or dumb snake keeper, so i am sorry for my unknowledgeable reply's. i like to think of my self being knowledgeable about ball pythons up to some extent. i am still learning and growing. I love this hobby and will respect my boundrys . and I will for sure do some more research and possibly look into boas to work my self up. i will not buy the rectic as i am obviously not prepared. i just never knew what a rectic was so looking at one ( not much bigger than my snakes ) struck an interest. thank you all

Glad to hear you're listening to good advice, Orangephoner. I applaud your ability to understand the situation once presented with the relevant information.

Definitely not stupid! I am beyond glad that you came here to ask and am relieved that so many people gave you EXCELLENT answers. Now that you are aware of what a retic is, you were able to make a very good decision....and you did! For both your sake and the snake's, thank you.

This post is not what someone would say "This is good to hear, and judging by this post you are definitely not stupid", the fact you proactively did research before buying this particular breed of a python or any for that matter shows you willing do do you research before making a decision. The only "stupid" question is the one that is not asked.

I don't know much if anything about retics, but isn't there a dwarf retic? One that stays like 8 ft or something? Last year at NARBC, the guys at prehistoric pets kept trying to get me to buy one even though I said I know nothing about them ...

At the beginning of this thread I was like *facepalm* but now I'm *thumbsup*

Retics are a HUGE responsibility and aren't for everyone. There are reasons they are illegal to own in numerous states. One bad apple ruins the whole batch.

I'm glad to see you chose to opt out though, boas are pretty cool in themselves.

I can understand, though i never realized it i have been spending a magority of my life researching snakes and until i had decided to actually by one did i think of this. I am extreemly happy you asked before you dove in, its good for you and most definetly good for the snake. I can totally respect the fact that you just want to learn about an animal before you buy it. But next time try wiki or just google searching it isnt always acurate but it will give you some knowledgeable information and the from there you can ask more pointed questions like 'how soon do they become fully grown?' and the like. But for even asking.
