if i wait for my bp to wander for food, i would be waiting months >.< He doesn't wander at all. He used to only eat one mouse every week...the last two feedings though, we've got him on 2 large mice, which is about the size of a smalll rat. Yep. My baby BP was a picky eater from the breeder. She warned me. I felt really confident. My corn snake is always out and 'searching' when she's hungry. So I waited until my BP did the same. It was 8 days after getting my baby that he started getting out and searching. Warmed the rat up NICE and warm in hot water. Did the zombie dance. He hesitated at first, so I just did little tiny movements. Just enough to make him twitch. Suddenly, he hit it and full coiled. He was on live mice prior, but took a F/T rat no problem with this method.
The water really helped my snakes pick up that there was food there. Kind of like how a wet dog smells more strong. The same probably goes for prey too. Wet mousey/rat, better strikes at my place
