I would love to grow a beard. Unfortunately I have 25% Native American genes. Have you seen a pure blood Cherokee or Seminole with a beard? I haven't. The best I can do is a short goatee. When I grow my facial hair out (and out of pure laziness 'cause I don't like to shave) it's spotty. There are gaps of clean skin. And it's rough and coarse. As it grows it will start to curve back and the ends will rub against my skin like steel wool.

It's just a big catch 22 for me. Even when I am not lazy, my skin is sensitive and I always break out in little red bumps on my throat and usually get in-grown hair. And this is with using razors and products meant for sensitive skin.

As for taste, some styles just don't look right on certain faces. Unless you look like Santa, ZZ Top, or Shaycarl long beards don't work for most guys.

My girlfriend hates lots of hair anywhere haha. So I only get past a few weeks before she threatens to tweeze every whisker out. I go and trim at that point lol.

I wish I could grow a big beard 😢 work won't let me grow it past three weeks once I get around there everyone reminds me to shave. I'm a CNA, getting ready to start working as an emt and working on starting the fire fighter program, none of those people enjoy beards.

I'm with you on I grow patches when I don't shave. I look like I have mange. I wish I could blame my native American roots (great grandmother was Sioux) but my brother has been able to grow a beard since 8th grade. I can grow a goatee the longest it ever got was 2 inches at which point my work made me trim it. Op awesome beard!!

That my friend, is a sweet frock. props to you for sticking with it.

I grow mine every winter and try to stick with it in the summer but when it gets too hot I give in and shave it down to a goatee. I'm 3 Weeks in on my winter growth now and i'm going to try my best to not succumb to the heat next summer and let the thing grow wild. Here is a 3 week old beard:

And here is what it will look like in a few months(puffed up for effect of course:

    Re: Beard growers unite!

Have not shaved since I got out of the Army in 83, though I do have it trimmed every two months when I get a hair cut. I originally decided not to shave anymore because of always having to while in the military, but now I keep it mainly to hide my double chin. Good thing I have a wife that likes beards.

i cant grow a beard to save my life. I go 6 months + with out shaving and it looks like i only missed a few days shaving. It always stays very short and patchy.

this is after about 7 months without shaving here
