Smile Albino x BEL Is it ok to breed?

    Hi,
Me and my wife have 18 months old male albino ball python and female baby sunglow boa. In July, she saw BEL first time at our local breeder and she fell in love with it. She wants to have female BEL this comming Sunday show in White Plains, NY. We are not breeders and never thought of breeding any snakes for hobby or for money. We just want to have beautiful pets. if some how our boy and girl they are interested in each other in a few years, what will we get?

PS. We got three choices of BEL (Russo Bel or Super mojavi or mojavi x lesser)

You can breed an albino and a BEL (I would go for a mojave x lesser)

The result would be 50% Mojave 100% het albino and 50% lesser 100% het albino.

You can figure out the %'s for other BEL types by interchanging the lesser and Mojave for whatever the BEL was.

Depending on what type of BEL you use you will get russo, mojave and lesser babies - all will be het for albino.

Its safe to breed any pair of morph.
Some combos people are hesitant to breed like spider x spider or woma x woma.
But your baby's from a bel x albino will be all hets for albino and if you breed them to each other you could (if its say mojo or lesser x mojo or lesser) end up with a red eyed Lucy.

    Edit:
    Just remembered the caramel.
I don't remember if its a bad idea to breed caramel x caramel. But google will answer that for us.

Russo BEL x Albino = Het Russo 100% het Albino offspring

Super Mojave BEL x Albino = Mojave 100% het Albino offspring

Mojave Lesser BEL x Albino = half of the clutch should be Mojave 100% het Albinos and the other half Lesser 100% het Albino offspring
(I didn't want to say 50% mojave 100% albino to confuse the OP)

There will be no visual albino babies unless the BEL is 100% het albino herself.

The statement in Bold is far from correct...There are a lot of Morphs that have problems when bred together!

Re: Albino x BEL Is it ok to breed?

Since you like the "BEL's", then make sure you check out super fires (the Black-Eyed Leucistic). You might find that you prefer the super fire over the "Blue-eyed" lucy. Personally, I believe a good super fire is more beautiful than any "Blue-eyed" lucy. The contrast of the jet black eyed (with red pupils) on stark white is startling. Also, a super fire if often pure white, but the ones with pigment are often more striking than the pure white examples. By contrast, most "Blue-eyed" lucies are not particularly attractive unless they are pure white, and many that show any pigment look dirty. Get what you want, of course. However, make sure to check out the super fires before you pull the trigger.

You won't get any albinos, since albino is recessive. They'll all carry the gene, but won't show it.
