My Dumerils didn't eat for the first like 6 months I had her so I broke down and tried live. It took her a few hours with a small weaner in her tub before she ate it but the next time i offered live she ate right away. For about a month and a half I kept giving her live and then just like 3 weeks ago I offered a f/t and she took it. A week later she took another f/t right away, and then just this week she actually got seconds cause one of my young bp's refused.

With Dumerils it really seems to me like you have to get them to recognize the item as prey, then one they recognize it they'd turn into garbage disposals if you'd let them.

Mine only eats live or pre-killed. Every time no matter what. I got him to take a f/t once but he spit it out after getting it part way down! I raise my own rats so it's no big deal for me, not sure what to tell you!

I have a young dumerils that stopped eating frozen thawed for about 2 weeks. She takes a defensive posture when i feed her and only makes defensive strikes. I even put a live rat pup in tank and nothing. Is it safe to keep trying without going live again? I wait 1 week between feedings and all other factors such as temp, handling, hides etc are being followed. Is it safe to call her bluff and hopefully shell eat eventually?
