They are both awesome in their own right. It would really depend on the individual snake between them. I think my next species after corns is going to be womas. I'd do blackheads but they are Expensive!

Re: Thinking of stepping away from balls.

Aggressive and Dangerous is the criteria? I fail to see how that makes much sense. I'm going to be blunt- but if you want to group an entire species/type of snake as "aggressive" or "dangerous" based on reputation you have no business owning animals, let alone reptiles. That's like the idea that pitbulls are dangerous just because of a few bad cases- when in reality you're in more danger from most spaniel breeds.

How are bloods dangerous? Do tell me, how are they "aggressive". I've had several bloods, none of which were dangerous or aggressive. Snappy as babies- but then again a lot of baby snakes are snappy. I've had corns, rats, and balls more aggressive than a lot of bloods I've worked with. Crossing off retics completely? You do know dwarves and super dwarves are out there right? Considering a proper SD retic is far less dangerous than a boa.

You should do some reading and educating. I trust myself and my fiance around my big 16' male retic more than I trust them around most balls/corns out there. It's all up to the individual animal, not an entire species.

I agree with what he said, minus the holier-than-thou tone and rudeness lol.

I wouldnt cross of bloods bc ive heard of plenty that are tame. The only reason i would say no to any type of retics is bc of their aggressive feeding responses. (Im fairly certain most retics have it). Retics of all sizes are very handeable once out of the cage but can be cage aggressive.

Do you keep retics and have extensive hands on time with the species? I have a couple retics that have very low feeding responses. As for cage aggression, it depends what you deem as cage aggression. Frankly, I hook train all my snakes, tap them a couple times with the hook to let them know it's time to come out. It's an amazing practice that if used would eliminate so many bites in the hobby. Can I reach into any of my retics enclosures without tapping them first? Yep. Will I get bitten? Probably not. Do I chance it or would I chance it with any snake regardless of size? No. Why risk injury to yourself and the snake that isn't needed.

    Chris,

I really wanted a blood as a pet, but heard about their horrible personality. I finally found my female and she was advertised as being very docile and wow what a sweetheart she is!

Just saying don't write them all off because I am sure there are more out there like my "Jilly bean".
