Were they hatched eyeless, or result of an injury..?

How happy and excited I am for you that you finally get to share your life with your own eyeless babies!
I know that you and many other here have fallen in love with my Athena, and now with the little eyeless fire babies I recently hatched. I also saw on Facebook where Markus Jayne hatched an eyeless fire bumblebee he's keeping. It warms my heart to think that maybe in some small way, Athena and I have contributed to the acceptance of these eyeless babies that might otherwise have been culled.
I look forward to seeing your babies grow like my Athena did. Eyeless snakes do present their own challenges, but are also their own great reward.

Thank you! They were hatched that way. My theory on it is fluctuating incubation temperatures, but I don't have anything to back that up with other than a hunch and reading a couple of threads

I just can't get over how cool it is that they don't need sight to act like any other ball python! Snake ninjas, as my boyfriend put it  Will definitely be updating often on here though, and now more than ever I'm happy I found the exotic only vet down south. It's a good 1 to 1 1/2 hour drive, but I know I've got someone to go to if anything comes up health wise.
And I don't think the impact you and Athena had is so small, was definitely a big influence in me even thinking of keeping an eyeless snake. They seem to universally be sweet snakes, and as you've mentioned people who are usually phobic of snakes are much more inclined to approach them (once they're big enough to be handled I think I'll have better luck with that too). As I've been moving away from ball pythons as a breeding focus, I think they'll be great "intro" snakes in the future
