Ah Middle School... don't remember much of it to be honest. But I do severely miss High School. Those were the days. Didn't really think I would ever miss it while I was there but I would love to go back to those days. Even though they didn't seem like it, things were much simpler back then.

    Re: Back to school blues

I'm not sure what is the source of your anxiety about going back to school. I have been out of high school for over 30 years so I don't know first hand what it's like today except to say I have 3 daughters ages 21, 19, and 15, so I have seen alot as a spectator. That being said, I offer the following advice and you are welcome to take or disregard any or all of it.

Don't put off your homework because it won't get easier by having less time to finish.

If you don't have time to do it right, you don't have time to do it twice. So try your best and if thats what you've done, accept the grade and move on.

Last, noone is really as cool as you think they are, and you are not as uncool as you think you are. It's all perception and only you can alter that. What you think of others is rarely what they think of themselves, and vice versa.

Remember this, even when you look at yourself in the mirror, the image you see is not what others see as it is reversed. Relax and enjoy.

Middle school? Consider yourself lucky. The work was a lot easier, and the schedule was less screwy.

From Monday Aug 20th to Thursday Dec. 13th, I get:

Mon: Get up at 7:30am, leave by 8:30 am, Physics I at 9:30 am, lunch at 10:51 am, Physics lab at 1pm, go home at 3:51 pm.
Tue: Get up at 9 am, leave by 10 am, Organic Chemistry I at 11 am, go home at 12:21 pm.
Wed: Get up at 7:30am, leave by 8:30 am, Physics I at 9:30 am, go home at 10:51 am.
Thur: Get up at 6 am, leave by 7 am, Oraganic Chem Lab at 8 am, lunch at 10:51 am, Organic Chemistry I at 11 am, go home at 12:21 pm.

From Fri Oct 5th to Sunday Oct 21st, I add in:
Fri: Leave by 5 pm, World Regional Geography at 6 pm, go home at 9:21 pm.
Sat: Get up at 6:30 am, leave by 7:30 am, World Regional Geography at 8:30 am, go home at 4:31 pm.
Sun: Get up at 10:30 am, leave by 12:30 pm, World Regional Geography at 1:30 pm, go home at 4:31 pm.

So, during October, I pretty much get a solid month of work because my college sucks and won't provide more classes of a pre-req class that everyone needs. The three weekend class was literally the only one I could fit into my schedule.

    These are wise words.

    I miss school...

Stay in school forever and enjoy every minute of it!

Oh, and grades are not as important as everyone makes them out to be. You just need to pass and if you know how to apply, you can get into a decent college out of state with a poor GPA.

Bull. Grades are important, since most courses require a C or above to advance courses and universities won't even look at you unless you have a 3.0 or above. Even with my community college, if you have a C in certain courses, the nursing and veterinary programs won't even look at an application. Also, you don't want a college out of state, either. Being an out of state student means paying a decent chunk more in tuition.

Oh how I wish I was back in middle school and not an adult, with a child, and bills, and a job. Bills SUCKS. Enjoy middle school. I know it's easier said than done, as it's always more difficult when you're going through it thanks to peers and peer pressure and bullying and just general adolescence...but just focus on your grades and you'll be fine. I learned once I got to high school how much easier it is to maintain a high grade than it is to pull yourself out of a low grade hole. So much less work!

I go back for my Senior year of College on the 28th. It's crazy how fast time flies. Enjoy it while you can. As much fun as it is to have grown up freedoms, grown up bills are no fun at all! Good luck in your last year of middle school, OP. And best of luck to everyone else headed back to school in the coming days and weeks.

    I miss school.

My girlfriend is taking a 50% pay cut AND spending a few thousand dollars this fall to go to school. Be glad you have it while it's free, and make the most of it.
