Rodent cages
I was wondering if anyone knew where to get the large lab style breeding cages for a good price. I know big apple herp has them, but does anyone else?

RBI (reptilebasics.com) carries lab type cages. I have no idea how the pricing is, but they have them.
Here is the link to their mouse cage:

They also have a rat cage.
Hope this helps,
John

I use the lab style cages but I'm not breeding on a large scale, just a few 1.3 groups of ASF. Upkeep isn't bad but if I ever decided to breed a larger quantity I'd probably go with a rodent rack for the sake of convenience.

are you using them for mice or rats?
i've been using them to keep mice for 4 months with no chewing. i used them for rats for like a week before switching to a larger tub and they didn't chew through it.

I've used 16qt tubs as maternity tubs for mama rats. No chewouts yet.
Big Apple Herp has lab style cages.

I am just doing a small colony of about 1.4 so I have the appropriate size meal for my babies. All my adults eat frozen! I was also thinking about getting some mice from jax. I heard that some of their lines produce high amounts of babies.

besides breeding racks I use 20gal tanks (get them cheap) with wire screen tops (chicken wire from Lowes) & glass water bottle inside hung on metal bottle holder.

My friend who breeds fancy mice uses 16-30 qt tubs and hasn't had any problems with chew outs.
It's cheaper than rodent cages and will fit a 1.4 perfectly.
Before using a rodent rack, I used this kind of set up for rats:
