My cage is a precision cage with an 11" x 17" ultratherm heating pad and my cage size is 34 1/2" L x 14 1/4" W x 17" H. My temps are 79 and 82, I am getting a temp gun. For summer these temps are good, but I am wondering about winter. I hope this helps you a bit.

    Re: animal plastics t3 thoughts?

thanks for your info on the temps and the help on the cage sizing it is appreciated, if i don't hear anything else definitive in the next few hours on the t8 vs t3 debate i'm going to go ahead and order the two t3's. anyone else have an opinion or temperature info they could relate to a t3 or similar style cage.
i just want to be sure i can get the optimal temps i mean the temps now are 75-80 on the cool side and 90-95 on the hot side roughly and that's in a 20 gallon long fish tank with screen top so it should be a piece of cake to get it the same in a t3 cage with just the flexwatt if it well insulated like the animal plastics wouldn't you think.

Im not sure, but I think that most people who order a t8, use it for a display-type cage.

I have a 3'x2'x18" pvcx for my first bp. Sure, he could easily be comfortable in a 41quart rubbermaid, but I like to look at his tank and see him occasionally(usually at night). Also, at the time, my grandmother refused to let me use tubs (she's letting me get a rack now though)

    His cage:

If you can keep temps stable, I dont see why you would need more then flexwatt.

I keep my fan on in my room, and temps can get to the low 70's so the PVC tank does have a rhp to help maintain 80-82 ambient.

    Re: animal plastics t3 thoughts?

nice set up you got there, im sure the temps will be fine the spot there in has no fan or other airflow other then just the ac which is set no lower than 74 at any given time. my main concern was adding a radiant heat panel i mean if its needed its fine i will get one but i could not find one on animal plastics site and i would like it to be installed by the cage manufacturer so everything is a clean install and i would not have to go and drill holes and try to make something work. thanks for the info and opinions it is appreciated.

05kas05, I don't know this for sure, but I think I recall reading on another thread that Animal Plastics will install the RHP for you if you have it sent to them from the place you buy it from (such as RBI). If you definitely want to get a RHP, it's worth at least contacting the people at Animal Plastics and seeing if they will do this.

i just looked on r.b.i and saw the r.h.p and the install is like a five minute job, i thought i would have to drill a decent size hole to fit the plug through or something i did not realize it comes in two pieces and you drill a 1/4" hole to run it through and just clip the wire on so i'm all set if i need it i can get it installed after i get my enclosures. thanks to you and everyone else again for the help like i said before it is appreciated and hopefully as i learn more i might be able to return the favor.
