Tape in the enclosure is generally a no go.. Have you ever peeled tape off a snake? I have. It isn't fun. The snake doesn't like it so much.

well, I got my thermostat just a little bit ago, spot cleaned the tub, put the thermometer "outdoor" probe above the heating pad right in the middle of it, and the thermostat probe right on top og the heating pad between it and the glass and wow, the temp is CRAZY up to 114.....so its dropping now, got it set on about 92, gonna see what the thermometer tells me when the thermostat starts heating it back up!!!!

It can take a few hours for the temps to stabilize.

What should the difference between the thermostat probe and thermometer probe be in fahrenheit? I am getting around 4 degree difference FOR NOW.

That sounds pretty normal. Mine varies by 2-5 degrees depending on the thermostat.

I wasn't talking about anything on the inside, I was refering to the little suction cup on the Hydrofarm. That probe goes on the outside between the UTH and the bottom of the enclosure.

I was talking about the little suction cup on the Hydrofarm probe. Tape would be more secure.

Hydrofarms do tend to spike when they cycle. Sometimes on/off stats can spike, this is not wholly the T-stat but a combination of things the hydrofarms probe is heavy and slow to respond higher wattage heat sources... on and on. This is something to keep an eye on, sometimes the effect is minor and sometimes the spikes can be dramatic. The other thing to check is the probe accuracy of hydrofarms is quite bad I have tested a handful and found them to be off by as much as 4.7ºF high. I would test this against 3 other (or 5) thermometers to find out the error of the t-stat.

Well, so far, its starting to stabilize and stay around 89-91, so that is much better than the start at 114 F.....

I have some pix of the thermometer/stat showing the temps when I 1st plugged it in...thank god I got this when I did, it was WAY to hot inside. Also, throwing a pic in of the 2 snakes we have together while waiting for the normals tank to be ready again! Also, its a little less humid because I had the top off and was digging around in the cage cleaning out some pee pee and moving stuff and the humidity is actually staying around 55-58% after adding some tin foil to a little more than half of the screen!
