New Thermostat

Getting my thermostat today finally!!!!

So, I just want to know, I got the Hydrofarm one and it has a suction cup on the probe, should I put that on the glass, inside tank, in the center of the heating pad, or on the heating pad itself under the tank?!?! Also, should I place my thermometer probe in the same place or what??

You need to put it on the tank bottom inside the tank.

I like to put the tstat probe on the uth under the glass. This way it is less likely to be moved and send your tstat to full power.

I put my thermometer probe on the glass in the tank to track the internal temp under the substrate. If this one is moved its no big deal. I also use a temp gun to check and track the substrate surface temp.

You can do either way but this way is safer. IMO.

I wouldn't put the tstat probe inside the enclosure. Your snake would end up moving the probe while exploring no matter how securely you think you attached the probe. I've had this experience before when I got my first BP, luckily I caught it before the UTH could get too hot. Its safest to place it directly on the UTH under the tank to prevent overheating.

Keep the thermostat probe out of the enclosure. Tape it to the UTH or sandwich it in between the UTH and the glass. Stick your thermometer probe right over the UTH on the glass, under the substrate. Set your thermostat until you get the desired temp on your thermometer. Tada!

Ok cool this is what I was thinking, awesome!!! It's still out for delivery, so I will get some pix of it after I set it up and do some spot cleaning, so you all can confirm its correct!! Also, what is the best way to hold the thermometer probe on the glass?

Something heavy or a dab of hot glue.

I think I will try and find my hot glue gun out in storage and use that!!! Hopefully I have some left over hot glue from the past!!!

Yea, I would use tape to tape the probe down and not use the little suction cup.
