Check ks for prices, there is no reason to buy both right now, you'll be paying to feed a male for 2-3 years as your female matures. Save your
Money and buy your male when the female is almost at breeding size.

Thank-you for the advice.
I tried looking on kingsnake and found a Pastel het Axanthic female I think it was that was like $1350 but I didn't find any others. Is this average?

It takes a lot of effort to get anything Recessive combined with a Co-dom. I just hatched out my first Zebra Bee, and I started from scratch. It took me more than 5 years.
If you have the ingredients and a lot of luck, you can do it in three.
Good luck!

Thanks for the luck! I'm not looking for a quick project at all so waiting that long to hatch one out won't bother me. I probably won't start breeding at all for at least a year or two anyways. I want to be 100% prepared!

I'd buy an pastel axanthic female now. If you don't want to spend that much, I'd go for a pastel het. axanthic. 1350 for a pastel het. axanthic is too much in my opinion. At least it should be a lemon pastel het vpi and the most beautiful pastel ever out of a line of most beautiful axanthics Actually I'm trying to buy an pastel axanthic sk and found one for less than the above price. Hope the deal works out.
Good luck with your project!

Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure what I'll go for! I'm going to the Western Canadian Reptile Expo in August in Alberta and I think I'm going to keep an eye out for any there! If I don't see any Axanthics at all then I'll ask some breeders if they would have any in the future and how much they'd charge.

why does the site not have the option for Het Red axanthics? I can't seem to grab that one to play around with...
The Zebra is fairly interesting.

I'm sure Henry Piorun will be there, he has some good bps. I'm always checking out his site.

Actually, he IS going to be there. I didn't even think to see if he was going to be there. A few years ago when I first started getting interested in BPs he's the first breeder I was checking out so I think I'll definitely have to go take a look at his booth. ^_^

Talk to our local breeders, hun! Just because they don't post doesn't mean they're not working on projects. There may be some breeders locally that are playing with Axanthic lines. I know a few that are working with Bee projects (Killer) but they are keeping it to themselves for the most part.
The first person I would hit up would be Tracey. Her parents just left town, so she's back to answering e-mails. Check and see what her project plans are for the next little while. She usually has an idea of what the other projects are being worked on around you as well. She'll be hitting up the meeting in August, so you could even chat with her a bit there. Another person to get in touch with would be BrettKeith on ERAS. Not sure if he has a website, but I know he was working with Bee lines as well. Steve Mallet was doing some stuff, but I think they're focusing on corns right now.
Long story short, yep, it might be cheaper to try to breed your own, but the other thing to consider is the fact that you'll be breeding. And as mentioned above, it could take years to get what you're looking for.
Don't get stuck on one morph is the first thing I'd suggest! Especially since you're new to BPs. My tastes have changed over the course of the year, and now I have a pretty solid idea of what I really like. Getting myself a Pied, and then eventually I want either a Lesser Bee or a Killer Bee. Or an Enchi Lesser. But when I first started, I was all over the place with morphs that I thought looked cool.
Definitely chat it up. You might be surprised, for sure.
