Shouldnt the female be 3 years old before you breed her? Won't she be too young this season, and undersized?
My ultimate goal is an Albino Clown Pied.

As long as shes sexually mature she can handle it. If she isnt ready, she wont go.

You're welcome to wait as long as you would like to breed your snakes. So much bull spread around about that. She's 1300g and a year old. She will be 1700+ before I even start pairing her at 17-18 months. I won't start pairing her until January. And she will go on a feeding terror to build when I start pairing her so she might hit 2k easily. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. I'm learning first hand that a lot of it is parroted bull crap. Some of the people that parrot the info haven't even bred a snake before! Overall there is a lot of good information out there but based on my experiences I would highly advise that you form your own opinions based on sound advice and your own experience. In fact, half the reason I don't post as much as I used to is because of the know-it-all attitudes that haunts almost all forums. It's more of a social clique than a information source and I'm sure someone is going to have a problem and/or dispute with what I just wrote. But I had three females all lay this season that weighed between 1200-1700g that started breeding at 17-18 months. I had one female that didn't go at 1300g. I also feed my snakes whenever they will accept food. There is a lot more to this discussion than some static line/size/age that most people try to dictate. This information is just a single example of one of the many fallacies that plagues keepers.

    Regards,

    B

I'm with Brian on this one, 17 to 18 months old is old enough to breed in the wild, and old enough to start breeding in captivity too.
Last season I bred 3 virgin females that were 17 months old and got eggs from them the week they turned 24 months old.
Perfect eggs, perfect babies, and momma snakes went back on feed and all 3 were around 2000 grams before breeding this season.
There's nothing wrong with waiting until the female is 3, sometimes you'll get larger first clutches, but not always.
