Your snake won't get mites from the grass. Snake mites are parasites that require a living host to feed from to stay alive.
If you're going to put your snake down in the grass, just make sure that you keep a close eye on him/her, that there aren't any rodent burrows or holes in the ground that he/she can easily slither into. As long as you're paying close attention and don't get distracted, you should be fine.
Also, and this should go without saying, make sure the temps outside are in the appropriate range before considering taking your bp outdoors...
EDIT: What you're describing doesn't sound like a mite at all. Maybe a small spider or a large tick, but not a mite...
