That's why it's a rant in the off topic section, it's what people do to get things of their chest. Whether someone else agrees with it, like's it or not doesn't matter. You never know maybe it encourages someone to do a search on this site or another and check their sources before asking a question and maybe it won't.

Like I said you shouldn't believe everything you hear or read from just anybody or anything anyway. The same goes for what you see at times, Just because a group of people agree on something or do things a certain way doesn't mean you should blindly follow suite.

The computer savvy excuse is old they've been around in one way, shape, form or another for decades now. In homes, companies, schools, libraries you name it. How to do a search is basic info right up there with the power button. Since after you turn it on you should learn how to use it, find what you're looking for or need to know.

It's the same as some people claiming they can't use proper grammar or even punctuation's because they're using their phone to post. No,.. in most cases they're just lazy, it may or may not take more time to do it but you can.

Lazy and or impatient, wanting everything yesterday without working, doing very little if anything to get it, seems to be the norm more so than not for some.

Ive seen plenty of posts like yours complaining about people who post the same stuff. What makes your post different than the others who complain about the same thing lol?

Also on a completely unrelated note, what is up with the italics. Im having trouble figuring out what tone you want me to read this post in. Sarcastic? Stern? Pissed off?

I was trying to figure out why the different font/type too. Almost as annoying to read, as someone asking the same question......

I've seen them too and I obviously feel the same way they do. To answer your question I've been using italics just about as long as I've been writing and typing. There's nothing sarcastic, stern or pissed off about it. So nothing to figure out just a style of writing just like many others. Which goes back to what I said before, just because a group of people do things a certain way doesn't mean you should blindly follow suite.

It's so hard to read emotion on the internet anyhow. I do think the whole thing comes across with that tone in italics.

Lol I have to say, I really find italics annoying when used in excess. If you want a different font there's an option for that.

Also, I find it quite rude when someone assumes people should have knowledge of how to navigate the internet. Sure they've been around awhile, but people who have been around longer than computers tend to find it difficult to navigate. Not everyone, but really, how many people have you heard of that laugh at the fact that their moms or dads suck with technology? lol

Except that it's a very reasonable excuse that has merit. Not everyone knows how to do things online. Just because you know it, doesn't mean everyone else does. My mother is 50. Five years ago, she didn't know how to use a forum, let alone the search function. There's millions of people that are just like her five years ago, today.

Alright. You claim that after you turn on a computer, that you should learn how to use it, which would also include proper upkeep and maintenance. So, question for you. Do you know how to ping a website, find a list of all the hardware on your computer, and edit your IP/subnet mask/DNS? These are three basic things. If you answer no to any one of these, then you have no right to complain about people not being computer savvy.

I'm glad you've shown that you know how to use a search engine, congratulations. But the reason why I use italics has already been stated, if I wanted to change it I would have.

Both of you obviously missed where I said "in most cases" meaning it doesn't apply to everyone. But to answer your question, yes actually I can do quite a few of those and for what I don't know, I can do like Kdreptiles just showed they also know how to do and run a search on how to. If for what ever reason that doesn't work then I'll take it upon myself and find someone who does know how. See how that works, and we're back to my original post.

Lol did anybody miss the sarcasm this time, because I didn't use any smileys until now
