I'm not personally aware of a bunch of incompatible hypo lines in ball pythons. So far as I know, it's just 'ghost' and 'desert ghost' (which really doesn't look the same), that are incompatible?
There are definitely a lot of incompatible Hypos out there...I bought two WC Hypos and both were incompatible with established lines! There are hundreds of WC hypos brought in from Africa every year...Who knows what there compatibility will be...

Bah, you never know what a new line of hypo might do in combos, it would be fun to have the chance to find out. Who has them now?

I line bred the male, they were ugly and wouldn't have enhanced any combo!

Who knows...The importer who guaranteed they would be compatible with established Hypos bought them back and all the animals I made from them for a little bit of nothing! I paid like $2500 bucks for the pair in 03!

"Ugly" is always in the eye of the beholder, though. Aside from those, has anyone else seen any incompatible hypos?

I picked up a "mystery hypo" last year from a friend of mine who told me that he'd bred green ghost to orange ghost in the past and gotten double hets. However, I have also read multiple cases of "green ghost" x "orange ghost" producing all ghosts.

In researching what my "mystery hypo" might be, I discovered a few cases of ghost x ghost producing double hets (including some that looked, phenotypically, the same). One of those was on Corey Woods's site, but I can't seem to find it now ... In other cases, very different-looking hypos would produce hypos. It seemed, in the end, to be a bit of a crapshoot.

What I took away from the exercise was that hypos might as well be considered like axanthics -- not very useful in a breeding program without knowing the bloodline. Especially, as "Coldbloodedaddict" pointed out, with all those imports floating around now ..!
