Once again more stuff that makes no sense, yellow anacondas are bigger. Oh well once again it is still a good thing to have a little freedom in snakes left.. for now. Im sure they will be attempting a ban on the retic and green anaconda soon.

To clarify, the rule making that was passed lists only the Burmese python, the Two African rocks, and Yellow Anaconda. It is still legal to own and sell them within your state, but importation and interstate sales/transport is not allowed.

Check for local ordinances as well. County, city, town, etc can all have laws/rules against pretty much anything. Better to check first than to have officers knocking on your door later.
As far as it not making sense which snakes were banned and which were not... they'll simply be adding the other species later on. I fully expect retics and some others to be 'added on' next year. After all, the wording did allow for them to add any species they like without any other officials needed to authorize... unless they removed that little clause before it passed.

And this is why we need to continue to fight this and overturn it.
