I got a bios, I think.

Itll say on the package what features it has. I haven't found one that has all the features as an accurite.

So the bios has a probe for indoor temp, which I place over the glass ontop of the UTH.

I place the unit on the cool side, and it'll tell me my cool side.

Then I just picked up a digital hydrometer ($7)

We all have to start somewhere; don't get discouraged by it.

I have only owned my baby ball python and baby boa for less than two weeks, and have learned so much just by interacting and asking questions on here. I've also spent over 24 hours (combined) reading up on them on the internet, videos, etc. I'm 100,000,000 times more comfortable about what I'm doing when I decided to spontaneously purchase a baby ball python from Petsmart, because I didn't like that it was all cramped up in a tiny square box on display.

Seriously, everyone here is awesome, willing to help you learn on the fly, and there's tons of good information on the internet that you can soak up like a sponge if you have free time and are an insomniac like me.

Since no one else has mentioned it.

Try covering all 3 sides of the tank. It makes the bp feel more secure. You can use black paper or go get some fancy aquarium background.

Also, you should have an identical hide on the cool side. They should be nice and snug so the bp will feel secure. Logs aren't the greatest. One entrance to the hide is best.

I'm sure he'll eat for you soon. He's probably stressed from all the action that's been going on

I have a bigger hide for him, but his water bowl takes up the whole cool side cause it's huge ._. I have a smaller bowl but I feel like it's too small... Maybe tomorrow I'll take out the log and put the hide in there? This is so confusing @__@

But i did feed him last Sunday and he ate! (forgot to mention, derp) it went good :) I just wiggled it around and he went for it :D

But if Athruns unhappy, how come when I stick my hand in his tank he instantly crawls on me? Does he really hate his tank? Is that why he always wants out? D:

Make sure you don't use a hide that is to big you want him to be able to squeeze in there and feel very secure, try and use a small water bowel he does not need a huge on you can use anything for a water bowel, i use little plastic dishes.
you will know your ball is stressed if he is out exploring all day, if he out exploring maybe a day or two before feeding that is ok.

Make sure you have a feeding schedule a strict one, depending on his weight, 5-7 day feeding schedule i would also advise to invest in some digital scales to weigh him.

Here is a good feeding method:
get a prey item (frozen?) leave it on a plate on top of your bp's tank depending on the size of it let it thaw out for half hour - 1 hour then when you feel it and it is not cold, get a blow dryer and blow dry the scent of the prey item towards your bps cage and while doing this you will also be warming up the prey item, then just dangle it from above and he should take it, if he retreats into his hide then you can leave the prey item in his cage over night... but if it still there in the morning remove it.
