Although I find that most hydrofarms aren't identical to each other in terms of calibration. I believe it was Kitedemon(I could be wrong) who has tested several and not one was identical.
This is why hydrofarms are one of the less recommended tstats.

Wow, I hadn't heard of that variation before. I guess I lucked out with mine, it works great.
Thanks for the heads up, I may reconsider ordering another one.

That's one of the reasons why I use herpstats!

Yeah. That's why mine is just on my quarantine rack, which is rarely used.
I have a more accurate T-stat on my main rack.

The hydrofarm does it's job, it's just needs to be tweeked to get the right temp.

I was reccomended the hydrofarm from my last thread I started. Ill see how accurate it really is when I get a better thermometer. And my substrate is about 1 1/2 inches, and she just pushes it around. That's why im moving her to the reps-bark soon.

The hydrofarm is better than any petstore brand. Its good when on a budget, but still one of the lowest ranked thermostats available due to inaccuracy and the 3 degree swing in temps when regulating heating elements. Mine hasn't failed yet, but i hear they have a higher chance at dying than the higher end t-stats like the Herpstat or VEs.

Re: help! new hide and under tabk heater!

You could try covering the lid with foil. I took cardboard and made a lid cover that fits with the screen. I cut a window out to allow the light/heat to pass through. I then covered the cardboard with foil. I did it this way just in case I need to take it off during different seasons I can just take it off. This would prob work for you since you place damp rags on your lid. The foil will help keep your heat in and humidty for that matter. You may not need two anymore. Another thing many use is foil tape to cover the screen as needed. This is alittle more permanent and wont allow you to place the rags on the screen.
