Re: Genetic Stripes loosing value to super stripes?
I have to disagree as well with the idea of them being something not worth perusing. There is a ton still to be done with them and I too have sold several combos this season. Not to mention the Bells. They have made some knockouts like the pastel butter stripe, pastel yelllowbelly stripe, butterbee stripe and many more this last season that sell and sold for as much or more then the superstripe or it's combos. I for one will be working banana, ultramel, pastel enchi ghost and more into my own stripe projects and see the future being bright for the stripe combos. Here's another nice one you don't see every day. Genetic stripe orange ghost.

I think they are visually terrific, and I love the combos, no doubt.
But we did a wide variety of morphs, and we hatched a good number of G Stripes and combos. G Stripes were consistently one of the worst sellers. I would guess that we sold perhaps 10% of them?
The rest were taken for trades, which folks would do, they just didn't want to come off any cash for them.
And selling hets? Ugh, even worse.
I have talked with a number of breeders at shows about G Stripes sales, and I never heard from one that said they sold strongly, they were always "ugh" about them as well.
Gorgeous stuff you have there Jeff, like I said, I personally love them, I am glad to hear you have done well with them!

I'm very glad I posted this thread and got actual info from people who've been in hobby a long time. Very informative. I don't fully understand why such an awesome morph wouldn't sell well

I have had good luck selling G. Stripe stuff over the last 7 or 8 years! One of my favorites base Morphs!
If you like G. Stripes get them!!!

Genetic Stripes are awesome...I can't wait until my g-stripe girl is big enough to breed...she's also the meanest, most aggresive feeder I've ever had...she's been full of pi$$ and vinegar from day one...

Lucifer Sam, Siam cat...
Always sitting by your side,
Always by your side...
That cat's something I can't explain...

Re: Genetic Stripes loosing value to super stripes?
I fell in love with the gstripe when I fist saw them. That's why my first was a het. I have pretty much decided to wait until I can get a gstripe to breed him to so the offspring will all be het instead of poss het. The only problem is the cost for me since I am just starting. So I have decided to hold out on gstripes and work on getting a small collection together first of single morphs maybe doubles that I would want in the future.

Hey Slendflaw, maybe think of it this way.. not all snakes are everyone's fancy, for selling ANYTHING you have to find the people who want that sort of thing, I know I would looooove some G Stripe snakes, who cares if they dont sell for such a high price as some of the other morphs, there are always morphs less sought after than XYZ, does that make them any less awesome? Nah, there will always be someone who will love them just because they are awesome, regardless of their price. Just have to find those people!

Hi!! Welcome! This is my best friend, guys. She'll soon have BP's too cuz playing with mine is getting her addicted. Let's spread this sickness!
Glad you joined, maybe I'll have to join your pit bull forums now lol. Although I feel like you're more likely to get into snakes than I am to get a pit, you know I just want my shepherds. You're totally getting the bug though, I can see it
Yea but the snake we were considering was $4000 so I would have to be very sure the babies would sell well. I will probably mess around with G-stripe stuff at some point, just not get one as my most important male and a very high end multi-gene animal.
