    Incubator Temp Help Needed

    Hey guys,

    I am having a problem getting the temp on one end of my incubator up. I am using a cooler design. From overhead it's like this:

    ______________________________
    |_____ _____ _____ _____ _____ |
    ||TUB| |TUB| |TUB| |TUB| |TUB| |
    ||*0*| |*0*| |*0*| |*0*| |*0*| |
    ||*1*| |*2*| |*3*| |*4*| |*5*| |
    |_____ _____ _____ _____ _____ |
    |____________________________|

    There's 11 in FW on the bottom. A layer of water bottles over that. Then the tubs on a egg crate shelf over those.

    Without a fan, the temps are higher toward Tub 5 and cooler toward Tub 1. So if Tub 3 is 89, Tub 5 is 92 and Tub 1 is 86.

    So with a single CPU fan placed on the end where Tub 5 is pointing toward Tub 1, Tub 2-5 are all either 89 or 90 but Tub 1 is still 86.

    Tub 1 is currently empty but I have another clutch dropping in about 9 days and need to get it up without making all the other get too high.

    So are there any suggestions? A better place for the fan? A 2nd fan maybe?

    Thanks.
    - Mason

    Is there anything blocking your air flow? Do you have the fan placed where it can create a circular pattern of air flow?

    Well, I am thinking that this one fan may not be strong enough to create a flow cycle. It's a standard CPU fan that you'd normally have sitting on top of a heat sink in a PC.

    Ya I would suggest a bigger fan. I'm assuming the one you are currently using is a 60mm fan. I'd go with a 120mm fan instead. Hope it works out for you.

    Hey Mason, sorry to hijack, but how did you alter the fan to get it work function in the incubator? Those types of fan are made to plug into the PC so what alterations have to be done to get it to work without one?

    You wire it to a plug in. We used an old cell phone charger.
