You have to use a photo hosting site like Photobucket.com
Once you upload a photo there, they provide links to each photo. One of the links is an image code you can post into your thread.
So for example, it should look like this, [IMG] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...pinstripe6.jpg [/IMG].
Once you copy that code into your thread post, it will look like this:
