I tried substrate-less this year and it's not for me either. After 2 weeks the eggs were already dimpling so I buried them in vermiculite. The dimpling has since filled back out except 2 eggs that are keeping a couple minor depressions each. I'm glad I at least tried it and I know people have much success with this method, it's just not for me. Just knowing those eggs are nestled safely down in that substrate helps me rest easy at night. Anyway, best of luck with the clutch, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some healthy spiders!
