Lesser/platty question?
Ok so im getting my baby lesser this week and ive been doing some research but i have some questions just to try to clear up the geneology here.
To my understanding:
All Lessers are descendants of the original platinum or "platty daddy". That snake produced what we call lesser platinums. The lessers look slightly different then the original. Its been proven that the platty daddy carried another ressessive gene that is passed to the normal looking offspring from the platty daddy....
If any of this is wrong stop me here... Lol
My question is if these normal looking platty gene carriers are essentially "het" for this gene, Has anyone bred two of these together to try to single out and produce a visual of this extra morph that the platty daddy has but not the lesser?
If it happens to just be a morph everyone knows of already try not to burn me down too hard lol. Just tryin to get the jist of things here.
Im sure this has been discussed but i couldnt find this exact question

I'm not exactly a biology major, and I honestly don't really follow the intricate morph genetics stuff...but I have always been under the impression that lesser is not recessive, therefore there is no "het" for it. It's either visual, or it's not...
But who knows, the genetics stuff gets so scientific and sounds German to me, it changes daily as far as I can tell, and depends on who you ask lol.

However I do not know if there was ever proof of an additional gene that made the orignial what it was because (from my understanding) it was never reproduced.
This is similar to the "white smoke" which started the coral glows, and it seems the bananas arent far off either. If one were to guess and hypothoize about these genes, it seems the coral glows and bananas could have a similar behavior as the BELs (mojave, lesser, butter).
(Please keep in mind, this is purely based on what my understanding is and those that know feel free to correct me)

Im not saying lessers are recessive. The original snake which was the dad of the first lessers is thought to carry 2 genes, 1 being "lesser,and the other being the unknown gene to which my question pertains to

@ tcutting, i read ralphs website and it mentions breeding the normal "suspected het" offspring back to the original and recreating the platinum. I may be wrong but im pretty sure i read that. Thats kinda where my question originates

According to world of Ball Pythons the only morph related to the het daddy gene is the Platty Daddy...
And that the "het daddy" is dominate

What happened is the platinum is a combo. A lesser allele plus a daddy allele make a platinum, they sit on the same locus. Daddy gene is so subtle you could mistake it for a normal. If you breed a platinum to a normal, you produce lessers and all the non lessers are have the daddy gene.

So what if u breed daddy to something else. Could effect it has on lessers be applied to something else?
