Iherp is good I have used it but my problem is I get very busy at times and starting the computer means I have to go back to work. I found in my life I put it off and them got behind same for my book I used. The best thing of the reptile scan is I scan the bar code thing it builds for you with my phone and it registers the animal and I use the drop down to record the action. Done. For me it works better than others. Every method is different and everybody's needs are different too. My note book worked great when I was only working 40 hours a week when I hit the 65+ it stopped working well. What is perfect for one person may not work for the next. Look at as many variations as you can and use the one the works best for you.

    Re: Ball python logging

I recommend iHerp as well. It's not perfect but it's the best I have seen.

I tried the stand alone Herper Pro app but its interface is not at all user friendly. I got tired of trying to figure it out and am just sticking to iHerp.

I used to use iHerp but I stopped because its so much easier for me to use a notebook.

I have a feeding sheet for each snake, and i make a list of scheduled feeding days, and put a check if they eat, an X if they refuse, and an S if i deside to skip them that week.

I also have a sheet for shedding, I record the date they shed on, and then put their weight next to it.

I also have another section for general information, name of the snake, morph, date of birth, date of purchase, who it came from, and i give them an ID number.

And then another section for health, in case anything arises.

I made up 3 spread sheets. One for feeding that consists of 3 rows- 1)date 2) prey type/size 3) eaten or not. The second has 2 rows for dates and weights. The third has 2 rows for dates and sheds. I don't breed yet but find I need to start organizing things more. Its a simple setup but so far works for me.

    Re: Ball python logging

If you are an iPhone user, please feel free to try out my new pet management and logging app. It's called Pet Pal.

It has some nice features for logging and status tracking - including some beautifully rendered growth charts.

You can create groups of animals, and track feeding of entire groups.

It knows about morphs - you can search for the morph of your BP and not only will it automatically populate the morph field, but it will also automatically populate the complete biological taxonomy, as well as desired temp range and humidity.

You can set reminders on your phone for any animal related activity - feeding, vet visits, etc...

You can store pet sitter notes for each pet which you can easily email to your pet sitter.

There is a nice detailed tutorial at the app web site here for a more in depth look:

    http://www.polymorphicranch.com/help.html

It might not be free like iHerp - but it is pretty much dirt cheap (i.e., it costs way less than a bag of your favorite substrate )

    Here are some screen shots:

Actually Helifreak , I looked into getting your app last night but it has no reviews and I'm not
going to pay $3.00 for something I'm not sure I'm going to like.

Maybe try putting it on the app store for free for 1 or 2 days so it gives a certain number of people to check it out and spread the word about it. ... Just a thought.

Thanks for everyones help and ideas!

I actually bought it a couple days ago and I like it. It's very easy to record things and easy to set up animals. It just needs a couple tweaks and it will run very nicely.

How do you keep track of your feedings?? Do you have it on your iPhone sky?

Yep. It's all on the phone. Feedings, sheds and different statuses. I also have cards for them which I stamp just the meals but the app covers just about everything.

    Re: Ball python logging

I would love for people that buy it to actually give it reviews - however, there are several things I have noticed:

    1) People who dislike something are much more likely to give it a review (bad) - than people who actually like it.
    2) This app is brand new. It has only really been out for about a week - regardless, reviews and feedback here on BP.net are certainly welcome, as being a ball python nut, this is one of the online communities that I frequent..

I know that everyone likes things that are free (or seemingly fee) - like most web sites, and forums, and such...

However the business model I have chosen to use, is to sell the app for a very small price (heck, its like the cost of a couple mice) - instead if plastering the app with annoying ads...

There is A LOT of information in the tutorial available on the help section of the web site. If that tutorial doesn't answer any of your questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me either here or through feedback @ polymorphicranch.com
