$425.... Haha, wow. And YES, super super strict! I could go on and on.

Sorry for HI-jacking the thread momentarily Chris, trading guns got me going.

That was a good deal on the Baretta. I paid $875 cash for my 92FS from a dealer.

we have loads of hunters, but just don't feel the need to bare arms/carry weapons. Tons of laws on even how our rifles and shotguns work. Like if you were using a pump action, only one in the chamber, and one in hand. Caught with anymore, and that's fines and possible jail time. They try to keep the gun laws to strictly hunting purposes only. No reason to have you shotgun loaded for an assault.

Just an FYI... Firearms in Canada, Trading Firearms.

Non-Restricted Firearms (Any Pump or Semi-Automatic Shotgun with a barrel-length greater than 18.5 inches) must be plugged to 3 shells while hunting. If trap or target shooting you may be fully loaded with no chamber plug. Rifles follow a similar rule while hunting and may not have any more than 5 rounds loaded and all magazines must be pinned to 5.

Restricted Firearms (All Handguns, Assault Rifles and a number of other firearms) - Can only be transported from your home to an authorized shooting range (that you must be a member of). If you do not have a membership at a shooting facility your firearm cannot leave your place of residence unless paperwork is filed and an Authorization to Transport has been granted.

This all being said and to keep on topic I have never seen any reptile trades for firearms. Since the long-gun registry has now been removed Non-Restricted Firearm trades are easy and could be considered if proper licensing is provided. Resticted firearm trades would still need to go through the government and all proper paperwork would need to be completed as mentioned above, quite the lengthy process.

Yeah, it is almost common practice, I see lots, and lots of odd trades. But as long as both parties in the trade are happy when they walk away, who is to say that just because it is an odd trade that it wasn't a good one? For example, currently, I am looking into a Ball Python trade for a Siberian Husky puppy, if I find one and the trade goes well, I would consider it a good trade.

I think for some people who discover this hobby, they naturally look to trade the accouterments of the last hobby to fund the new one.
