What brand radiator heater do you swear by?
Hey I'm about to purchase one of the oil filled radiator heaters and was wondering what brand you guys reccommend. I only need to heat a very small room that I have the walls and ceiling covered with that foam board insulation paneling. So it is a well insulated, small space that I don't need anything extravagant for, but I want reliable and cost efficient. I'm looking at the DeLonghi Vento TRV0715T right now. Thought I would get as much input on brands and models as I could before taking the plunge on one. Thanks.

We use this one for our rack room:
http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...&storeId=10051
It's significantly cheaper which usually causes me to pass with electrical products but it has really great reviews and I have been happy with it. It gives perfect ambient temps for bps on the lowest setting (600 watts) which is very cost efficient.

I just ordered one. That actually looks perfect for my little room. Thanks.

It not as much as the brand of the oil filled heater than the thermostat you will use with that heater, that's the very important part.
I have both Delongi and Honeywell and they are both great.

I use whatever is inexpensive. Right now I have a small, cheap Pelonis one from Wal-Mart. I have it all hooked up to a Herpstat with a backup. I have no issues keeping a steady temp and I certainly see no point in spending big bucks on a name brand one with all the bells and whistles that I'm not going to use because its just going to be controlled by another thermostat.

Re: What brand radiator heater do you swear by?
Someone above listed a radiator that goes up to 1500 Watt capacity. Is it safe to use a thermostat for these oiled filled heaters with such high wattage? I thought most thermostat have must lower threshold than that. I know there are always people who did it with no problem so far, but you know what I mean. I believe that herpstat 2 for example has a threshold of 500 Watt per output (I may be wrong)? If so, what's lower than the minimum 600 Watt heater setting listed above.
Also, where would you place the probe? If the room is even moderately sized? I see people put a fan behind it and that is the air flow, but it doesn't really blow up or down just sideways.

Gotta get a heck of a thermostat for that one then. I forget what our radiator is rated at, but its just a little guy and well within the power rating for our Herpstats. For a small room, you don't really need anything massive. Just keep it sealed up and you're all set. I wouldn't risk running something high wattage on a thermostat not designed for it. Too many problems can arise from that.
We have probes placed all over our room. Most are on our racks and stuff. You just gotta average everything out and find a setting that gets as close to your desired temperature as possible. There will obviously be a little thermal gradient, but you can't really avoid that. It isn't an exact science.

There are three distinct settings on the radiator above so if you place it on 600watts, I'm fairly certain it's not possible to go over and the 1500 watts might as well be a different heater. There's a second dial for the intensity of heat at the particular wattage selected so at halfway, I would assume it outputs ~300 watts. I could be mistaken on the effect the dial has on the wattage output but a VE-100 has a capacity of 700 watts which is greater than the max 600 watts of the heater regardless.

When I lived in Virginia I used a Pelonis when it got really cold.
Now that I've moved back to Florida, I'm hoping to not have to use it again...we'll see.

I ordered a Herpstat 2 for my thermo.
