Spider female what male should i look at?

Hi i just got my first Ball python a spider female about 1 and a half months old. She does not look like the conventional spider so i was wondering what male i should look at getting to breed some really nice morphs? I was thinking at a super pastel.

I'm in the same boat as yourself, I have an ~1100gram 7 month monster female spider. She's a beast... I'm thinking of pairing her to my lesser in 10 months or so! Both will be good by then I think.

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your first bp! The pictures aren't showing up for me either... Maybe try Photobucket? Or the gallery on this site?

As for your question, I think you should definitely wait before making the decision to breed. It's a big job that can go horribly awry for both the female and the eggs if you aren't completely sure of what you're doing. Granted, it will be some years until she's old enough to breed, and it couldn't hurt to have a male on hand, but I don't think that getting into ball pythons with the intention to breed is necessarily the right way to get started in the hobby, if you know what I mean? Maybe see how she does as a pet for a year or so first?

Welcome to BP.net! I urge you to spend some time learning and practicing proper husbandry before you get too wrapped around the axle about breeding. You'll have plenty of time to lean while you grow your gril to breeding size.

Wow, that really is a big girl! Sounds like she's a bit young to breed though? I think it's safest to wait until females are 3 years old before attempting to breed them.

At her size I wouldn't worry about getting a male. If you have the money to put into it now, get another female.

I've read that the youngest some breeders go are 18 months, I'm feeling like with this girl.. at 18 months she'll be near 2000grams! I feed her once to twice a week, rejected a FT meal(just switched her so she's hesitant about FT still) ONCE while she started shed. The last day of her shed was feeding day again, I thought to just give it a shot. Left the FT rat in her tub and come back to her eating it! :]

I will say a pastel lesser. Queenbees are pretty sweet looking in my opinion!
